
Internation Rafting Federation

Become a certified whitewater raft guide with the International Rafting Federation (IRF) - the only globally recognised standard for professional raft guides. Five days of hands-on training on real glacial whitewater in Skagafjörður, taught by an IRF Instructor with 30 years of guiding and 15 years of teaching experience.
This is not a classroom course. You will be on the water every day.
Who this course is for?
You do not need previous rafting experience, but you need to be comfortable in water and reasonably fit. If you already have guiding experience, this course prepares you for IRF assessment.
Some of the stuff you learn
- River equipment: drysuit, PFD, helmet, booties, throwbag (gears rental possible for extra 7.500 ISK)
- Thermal underwear/base layers
- Warm fleece top/wool sweater
- Fleece pants / extra long johns
- Thick wool socks/hiking socks (at least 1 pair)
- Dry clothes for after the river
- Any necessary medications (asthma inhalers, etc.)
WE PROVIDE:
- Qualified, professional IRF/Rescue 3 instructors.
- Transportation between our rafting base and the river.
- Riverside refreshments.
Meals, Camping, and local accommodation are available on request.
